The ruling BJP criticised the opposition’s large‑scale ‘Save Democracy’ rally, while Uttar Pradesh Congress chief launched a padyatra to mobilise support.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has publicly voiced displeasure over the INDIA bloc’s recent nationwide rally, describing it as a “historic” attempt to challenge the government’s democratic credentials.
The rally, organised by the coalition of opposition parties under the INDIA banner, attracted thousands of participants across several states, calling for safeguards to protect democratic institutions.
In response, the BJP’s central leadership accused the gathering of being politically motivated and warned that such mass mobilisations could destabilise the country’s political climate.
Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh Congress chief, who is leading a “Save Democracy” padyatra, said the march aims to raise public awareness about perceived threats to democratic norms and to rally citizens ahead of upcoming elections.
Political analysts note that the clash of narratives underscores the intensifying contest between the ruling party and the opposition ahead of the next electoral cycle.
