The Bharatiya Janata Party has removed 41 party workers in Rajasthan for defying the party line during local body polls, with 26 expulsions recorded in Jaipur.
Jaipur, Rajasthan – In a decisive move ahead of the ongoing local body elections, the state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced the expulsion of 41 party members and activists for alleged rebellion against the official candidate list. The disciplinary action was taken after reports that several workers had supported rival candidates or engaged in activities contrary to the party’s directives.
According to the party’s statement, the highest number of expulsions occurred in Jaipur, where 26 individuals were removed. The next highest figures were recorded in Bharatpur (seven members) and Ajmer (six members). The remaining members were dispersed across other districts of the state.
Party officials said the expulsions are intended to reinforce discipline and ensure a unified front as the local body polls progress. They added that the expelled members will be barred from holding any party position or contesting elections under the BJP banner for a period yet to be specified.
The move has drawn mixed reactions from local political observers. While some view it as a necessary step to curb dissent, others warn that heavy‑handed disciplinary measures could alienate grassroots workers ahead of a crucial electoral contest.
The BJP has not disclosed the names of the expelled individuals, citing internal security concerns. The party will continue to monitor the situation closely as the local body elections move forward.
