On a Tuesday evening in Bhopal, BJP supporters surrounded the Madhya Pradesh Congress office in a protest that stemmed from remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s father. The gathering of BJP activists was met with a counter‑presence of Congress workers who had already positioned themselves with batons.
Police, attempting to maintain order, fired a water cannon at the encirclement. The blast forced some demonstrators to retreat, but tensions remained high at the intersection where the two groups faced each other.
The incident was confined to the immediate area around the Congress office and did not spread to other parts of the city. No injuries were reported, and the police later dispersed the crowd after the water cannon was fired.
