The Bharatiya Janata Party has confirmed its chairperson in Mount Abu as six local bodies in Sirohi district gear up for chairperson elections on Monday, with independents playing a pivotal role in Aaburod and Mandar.

Mount Abu, Rajasthan – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) concluded its internal selection for the chairperson of a regional board on Monday, setting the stage for a crucial local body election across six panchayat samitis in Sirohi district. The vote, scheduled for the same day, will determine the chairpersons who will oversee development projects and administrative coordination in the respective jurisdictions.

Among the six bodies, the Aaburod and Mandar panchayat samitis are expected to see a tight contest, as independent councillors hold the balance of power. Political analysts note that the independents could tip the scales in favour of either the BJP or the Congress, depending on post‑poll alliances.

In the larger Sirohi district, the BJP faces a direct contest with the Congress in several other bodies, while some areas remain contested between multiple parties. The outcomes will influence the party's foothold in the district ahead of the upcoming state‑level elections.

Election officials have deployed additional staff to ensure a smooth voting process, and security arrangements have been tightened in the polling stations of Aaburod, Mandar and the remaining four bodies. Voter turnout is being closely monitored as local issues such as water supply, road connectivity and agricultural support dominate the campaign narrative.

The results, expected later on Monday, will be closely watched by state leaders, as they could reshape the political dynamics in Rajasthan's western region ahead of the next legislative assembly polls.
