The Bharatiya Janata Party in Punjab has formally asked authorities to cancel the FIRs lodged against several industrialists in Ludhiana.
The Punjab unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has submitted a written demand to the local police, urging the withdrawal of criminal complaints filed against a group of industrialists in Ludhiana. The party says the FIRs, which were registered earlier this year, are unfounded and hamper the business environment in the city.
In a statement released to the media, BJP officials argued that the allegations lack substantive evidence and that the affected entrepreneurs have cooperated fully with investigative agencies. They appealed to the district magistrate and senior police officials to review the cases and dismiss them if no merit is found.
Legal experts note that the decision to withdraw an FIR rests with the investigating officer or the court, and a political request does not automatically lead to cancellation. The Ludhiana police have not yet commented on the BJP's demand, and the matter remains pending further review.
