The Bharatiya Janata Party disclosed the names of three candidates it will field in the forthcoming Maharashtra Legislative Council elections, issuing a formal press release on the matter.
Among the three nominees is the wife of a well‑known media baron, a choice that has attracted attention given the family's extensive reach in the state's media sector.
Party officials said the selections combine seasoned politicians with newer faces, aiming to consolidate the party's strength in the council. The candidates are now expected to submit their nomination papers in line with the Election Commission's schedule.
Opposition parties have not yet issued a response, while political analysts note that the inclusion of a media family member could add a distinctive dimension to the BJP's electoral strategy.
