BJP and Akali Dal Near Alliance in Punjab as Talks Enter Final Phase

BJP and Akali Dal are reportedly close to finalising an electoral alliance in Punjab, with negotiations now in the concluding stage. The partnership would aim to consolidate anti‑INC votes ahead of the state elections. Historically, the Akali Dal has been aligned with the Indian National Congress, but recent shifts in Punjab’s political landscape have prompted the party to consider a coalition with the BJP. If the alliance materialises, it could reshape the contest by bringing together the BJP’s growing base and the Akali Dal’s traditional support among Sikh voters.
