The BJP alleged that Karnataka authorities imposed restrictions on the Ganesh Chaturthi procession following a Mysuru police officer’s alleged threat, prompting a sharp exchange with the state government.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) claimed that the Karnataka government had placed curbs on the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Mysuru after a senior police officer allegedly threatened to block the procession. The party said the move undermined the rights of devotees and was politically motivated. Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai refuted the allegation, stating that the state respects all religious events and has not issued any directive to halt the procession. He urged the BJP to focus on constructive dialogue rather than political posturing. Mysuru police later issued a clarification, saying no official orders restricting the Ganesh Chaturthi march have been issued and that the officer’s comments were misinterpreted. The clarification aimed to defuse tensions ahead of the festival, which attracts large crowds across the city.
