The water level at Rajasthan's Bisalpur Dam fell to 314.5 metres as the monsoon failed to deliver expected rains, prompting a rain alert for 11 districts.

Jaipur, Aug 20 — The Bisalpur Dam in Rajasthan recorded a water level of 314.5 metres on Thursday, reflecting a sharp decline in inflow caused by a weak monsoon season. Hydrological officials said the reduced rainfall across the catchment area has limited the dam's replenishment, raising concerns for water availability in the coming months.

The state’s water resources department warned that the current deficit could affect irrigation schedules and drinking water supply for nearby districts. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely and have urged farmers to adopt water‑saving practices.

In response to the broader weather pattern, the Rajasthan Meteorological Department issued a rain alert for eleven districts, including Jaipur, Ajmer and Jodhpur, urging residents to stay prepared for sudden showers despite the overall weak monsoon.

The department reiterated that while the monsoon remains below normal, localized thunderstorms may still occur, and it will continue to update the public with timely forecasts.

Stakeholders are awaiting the upcoming monsoon outlook, hoping for an improvement that could stabilize water levels at Bisalpur and support agricultural needs across the state.
