The health department of Andhra Pradesh has confirmed an avian influenza outbreak in poultry farms and issued an alert to contain its spread.
The state health authorities have confirmed the presence of avian influenza, commonly known as bird flu, in poultry farms across Andhra Pradesh. Following laboratory verification, an official alert was issued to inform farmers and related stakeholders about the outbreak.
The department has advised immediate reporting of any suspicious bird deaths and recommended heightened bio‑security measures on farms. Veterinary officials are being deployed to conduct surveillance and to guide containment efforts.
Consumers have been reassured that the virus does not spread through properly cooked poultry products, and the health ministry continues to monitor the situation closely.
The alert underscores the importance of coordinated action between the agriculture and health sectors to prevent further transmission among birds and potential spill‑over to humans.
