Police rescued a married woman who vanished from Chakai in Bihar after she was allegedly taken by two unknown women and forced to work in cotton fields for four months.
A married woman from Chakai village in Jamui district, Bihar, went missing earlier this year, prompting a multi‑state search. Local authorities in Bihar received a tip that she had been taken away by two unidentified women.
Police from Rajasthan's Shriganganagar district intercepted the trail and located the woman alive in a cotton‑growing area of the city. She was rescued without injury and immediately handed over to local officials.
The survivor alleges that the two women promised her a chance to become a mother, then coerced her into labor on cotton farms for about four months, keeping her isolated and under false pretences.
The case has been registered as kidnapping and forced labour, and investigations are underway to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. The woman is receiving medical care and counseling before being reunited with her family in Bihar.
