Bihar's Economic Offences Wing (EOU) has carried out coordinated raids on two locations linked to Amit Kumar Gupta, a senior officer in the state's Transport Department. The operation, announced by the department, targeted Gupta's residences and a commercial property he is associated with.
Investigators reported that the seized assets, including cash, jewellery and movable property, totalled roughly 148 percent of Gupta's known annual income. Officials said the disproportionate holdings suggest a serious breach of the state's anti-corruption norms.
The EOU has opened a formal case against Gupta under the Prevention of Corruption Act and will submit a detailed charge sheet to the court. The transport department has suspended Gupta pending the outcome of the investigation, and a spokesperson reiterated the government's commitment to rooting out corruption in public offices.
