The Bihar transport department has built a dedicated portal to maintain a database of private school vehicles and drivers, with live integration and automatic alerts for fitness and insurance expiry.
Patna, Oct 4 (ANI) – The Bihar Transport Department announced the creation of a specialised online portal aimed at tracking private school transport vehicles and their drivers in real time. The platform will house a comprehensive database that records each vehicle’s registration, fitness certificates, insurance details and driver credentials.
The portal will be linked with the existing Vehicle and Driver (Saarthi) portal, enabling seamless data exchange and live monitoring once it goes online. Automated alerts are programmed to notify authorities when a vehicle’s fitness or insurance is nearing expiry, allowing timely renewal and preventing unfit buses from operating.
Officials said the system is intended to enhance safety for schoolchildren by ensuring that only compliant vehicles are permitted on routes. The department expects the integration to be completed within the next few weeks, after which the portal will be made publicly accessible to relevant stakeholders.
The initiative reflects Bihar’s broader push to leverage technology for better governance and to address concerns raised by parents and schools over transport safety standards.
