The central government has approved construction of more than 11 lakh rural houses in Bihar, allocating Rs 13,427 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin.

The Union government has cleared a plan to build over 11 lakh new houses in Bihar’s villages, earmarking a fund of Rs 13,427 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY‑Gramin). This allocation is part of the nationwide effort to provide affordable housing for rural households.

The scheme aims to address the persistent shortage of decent dwellings in rural Bihar, where a large segment of the population still lives in inadequate conditions. By financing the construction of these homes, the government seeks to improve living standards and promote inclusive development in the state.

Implementation responsibility will rest with the Bihar state administration, which will coordinate with central agencies to identify eligible beneficiaries and oversee the construction process. The approved funding is expected to be disbursed in phases as the project progresses.
