Sources say Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary and former CM Nitish Kumar discussed retiring Deputy CM Bijendra Yadav and naming Nishant Kumar as his successor ahead of the upcoming oath ceremony.
Bihar is gearing up for another swearing‑in ceremony, with political insiders indicating a reshuffle in the state’s top leadership. Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary reportedly met former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to finalize the retirement of Deputy Chief Minister Bijendra Yadav.
The two leaders are said to have agreed on appointing senior party functionary Nishant Kumar as the new Deputy Chief Minister. The decision is expected to be announced formally during the upcoming oath‑taking event.
If confirmed, the move would mark a significant change in the state’s cabinet, positioning Nishant Kumar as a key figure in the administration ahead of the next legislative session.
State officials have not released an official statement yet, and details such as the exact date of the ceremony remain pending.
The development reflects ongoing realignments within the ruling coalition as it prepares for the next phase of governance in Bihar.
