From November 5 to 20, Bihar’s transport corporation will operate about 200 special buses linking the state with Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, West Bengal and Jharkhand for the Diwali and Chhath festivals.
The Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) announced that it will deploy roughly 200 special buses between November 5 and November 20 to cater to the surge in travel during the Diwali and Chhath celebrations. The fleet will serve routes to five neighbouring regions – Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, West Bengal and Jharkhand – providing direct connectivity for festival‑goers.
Ticket reservations for the special services have been opened online and at BSRTC counters across the state. Buses will operate at regular intervals throughout the period, with departure points in major Bihar cities such as Patna, Gaya and Bhagalpur. The corporation has indicated that seats will be allocated on a first‑come, first‑served basis, and passengers are advised to book early to secure a berth.
BSRTC officials said the initiative aims to ease congestion on highways and railways, offering a safe and affordable alternative for families travelling for the holidays. The special buses are expected to accommodate thousands of passengers, helping to manage the traditional travel rush associated with the two major festivals.
