The 26.292 km stretch from Karnauti to Biharsharif on the Bakhteyarpur‑Rajgir‑Tilaiya line will be doubled, with a ₹5,751.4 crore e‑tender issued by the former Central Railway.
The Ministry of Railways has moved forward with the doubling of the Bakhteyarpur‑Rajgir‑Tilaiya railway corridor in Bihar. An e‑tender worth ₹5,751.4 crore has been floated for the 26.292 kilometre segment that runs from Karnauti to Biharsharif, marking the first concrete step after years of planning.
The project, previously approved under the former Central Railway’s jurisdiction, aims to increase line capacity, reduce travel time and improve freight movement across the region. Once completed, the double track will enable more frequent passenger services and support economic activity in the surrounding districts.
Contractors are expected to submit bids within the stipulated deadline, after which construction is slated to begin later this year. The railway authority has indicated that the work will be executed with minimal disruption to existing services, employing modern construction techniques to expedite completion.
