Bihar Police Officers Suspended After Cake‑Cutting Photo at Liquor Smuggler’s Party

A photograph of Motihari’s sub‑collector Satish Kumar and deputy police inspector Bipin Singh cutting a cake at the birthday party of liquor smuggler Bitto Kumar was shared widely on social media, sparking public outrage. The image, which showed the officers in a celebratory pose, was deemed a breach of professional conduct.

The incident prompted the district Superintendent of Police, Swarn Prabhat, to order an immediate suspension of both officers pending a formal inquiry. The police department has announced that a disciplinary panel will investigate the matter.

The case highlights concerns over police integrity in Bihar, where corruption and collusion with illicit traders have been reported. Authorities have stated that any officer found to be complicit in such activities will face strict penalties.

The suspension underscores the importance of maintaining public trust in law enforcement, especially in regions grappling with illegal liquor trade. The investigation is expected to set a precedent for handling similar misconduct in the future.
