Officials say the GLOF scenario, while still under observation, could release large volumes of water into the Gandak basin, raising water levels rapidly in the early hours of the day. The six districts, though not named in the notice, are expected to experience sudden rises in river flow that could overwhelm local drainage systems.
In response, the Chief Secretary of Bihar has directed district magistrates and disaster management teams to activate emergency protocols. Preparations include pre‑positioning sandbags, mobilising rescue teams, and issuing public advisories to keep residents alert and ready to evacuate if necessary.
