A senior JD(U) legislator has openly supported the opponent of his party's candidate in a high‑profile Bihar Legislative Council seat, intensifying the political drama ahead of the polls.
The race for a coveted seat in the Bihar Legislative Council has turned into a focal point of political intrigue. While the National Democratic Alliance's constituent parties and Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United) have each fielded their own candidates, the JD(U) campaign has been marred by an unexpected development.
An influential JD(U) MLA publicly endorsed the rival candidate contesting against his party's nominee. This rare act of cross‑support has raised questions about internal cohesion within the JD(U) and could influence voter perceptions in the tightly contested constituency.
Party officials have not issued a formal response, but analysts suggest that the dissent may reflect deeper factional divides ahead of the upcoming MLC elections. The outcome of this seat could serve as a bellwether for JD(U)'s broader electoral strategy in Bihar.
Election officials have confirmed that the polling schedule remains unchanged, and the contest is expected to draw significant attention from both state and national observers.
