The state’s urban development minister said Bihar’s cities require customized master plans to address their unique growth challenges.
The urban development minister of Bihar announced that the state’s rapidly expanding cities need master plans tailored to their individual characteristics. He highlighted that a one‑size‑fits‑all approach cannot effectively manage the diverse urban pressures across the region.
According to the minister, each city in Bihar differs in terms of geography, population density, economic activities and infrastructure gaps. Customized planning, he said, would allow authorities to address specific issues such as flood‑prone areas, traffic congestion and housing shortages more efficiently.
The government plans to commission detailed studies for major urban centres and involve local municipal bodies, planning experts and community representatives in drafting the bespoke plans. The minister emphasized that these efforts aim to promote sustainable growth and improve the quality of life for residents.
Implementation timelines will be set after the initial assessments, with periodic reviews to ensure the plans remain responsive to changing urban dynamics.
