The state government will deploy artificial‑intelligence tools to translate Bihar's historic manuscripts, aiming to preserve and digitise the region's cultural heritage.

Patna, Bihar – A senior minister of the Bihar government announced that artificial‑intelligence based translation tools will be employed to render the state’s ancient manuscripts into modern languages. The move is part of a broader cultural preservation drive that seeks to digitise fragile texts housed in state archives and libraries.

The minister said the AI system, developed in partnership with technology firms and academic institutions, will first be tested on a selection of Sanskrit and regional language manuscripts dating back several centuries. Successful translation will enable scholars, students and the public to access the content online.

Officials expect the project to accelerate research on Bihar's historical literature and support educational curricula that incorporate indigenous sources. The initiative also aligns with the government's digital India agenda, aiming to modernise heritage management through advanced technology.

Implementation is slated to begin in the coming months, with a pilot phase targeting roughly a thousand manuscripts before scaling up to the entire collection.
