A man from Bihar allegedly drove over 2,000 km to kill his father after watching the film ‘Drishyam’, and was identified through a phone call, authorities said.
Police in India have disclosed that a man originating from Bihar travelled more than 2,000 kilometres to commit patricide after being influenced by the thriller film ‘Drishyam’. The suspect allegedly planned the murder while watching the movie, which portrays a family covering up a crime.
Investigators say the perpetrator made a phone call that was traced, leading to his identification and subsequent arrest. The call, recorded by law‑enforcement, provided crucial evidence linking the suspect to the crime scene.
The case has sparked discussion about the impact of cinematic narratives on real‑world behaviour, but officials stress that the investigation is focused on the individual’s motives and actions, not the film itself. The accused remains in custody pending further legal proceedings.
