The Bihar government has announced a Rs 105.91 billion programme to maintain and upgrade the state's road network.
The Bihar administration has formally introduced a road‑maintenance initiative valued at Rs 105.91 billion. The scheme aims to address the deteriorating condition of state highways, district roads and rural linkages through systematic repairs and periodic upkeep.
Funding for the programme will be drawn from the state budget, with allocations earmarked for resurfacing, drainage improvement, and the installation of safety features such as signage and guardrails. Technical guidelines have been prepared to ensure that work meets national quality standards and that expenditures are monitored closely.
Officials expect the initiative to enhance connectivity, reduce vehicle operating costs and stimulate economic activity in remote areas. The rollout will be phased, beginning with high‑traffic corridors before extending to lesser‑used routes across Bihar.
