Bihar Launches Home‑Based ABHA ID Creation, Cutting Hospital Visits

Bihar’s Health Safety Committee has introduced a new, step‑by‑step guide that enables residents to create an ABHA ID from the comfort of their homes, eliminating the need for hospital visits. The initiative is part of the national Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, which aims to digitise health records and streamline access to government health schemes.

The process allows users to register via a mobile app or a web portal, linking their ABHA ID directly to their Aadhaar number. Within minutes, the ID is generated and can be used to access health services across the state.

According to the committee, the phased rollout will first target major districts in Patna, followed by rural areas. Citizens are advised to keep their mobile numbers active and to verify their Aadhaar details before initiating the registration.

Experts say the move will reduce administrative bottlenecks and improve the efficiency of health service delivery, especially for patients who previously had to queue at hospitals for ID issuance.
