Bihar launches 90‑day ‘Doctor at Your Doorstep’ health screening for 6 crore people

The Bihar government has begun a 90‑day door‑to‑door health screening and treatment drive targeting residents aged 30 and above, aiming to screen six crore people and create digital health records.
Patna, Sept 2 2026 – The state health department of Bihar inaugurated a 90‑day "Jaanch evam Upchar – Chikitsa Aapke Dwaar" campaign aimed at providing free medical screening and treatment at citizens' homes. The initiative focuses on individuals aged 30 years and older and seeks to screen approximately six crore residents across the state.
Under the scheme, trained health workers will visit households, conduct basic health checks, and record findings in a centralized digital health database. The electronic records are intended to streamline follow‑up care and enable better allocation of medical resources.
To raise awareness, specially equipped awareness raths have been dispatched to all 38 districts of Bihar. The raths carry informational material, display screens, and staff who explain the benefits of the program and how beneficiaries can avail services.
The government has allocated resources for medicines, diagnostic tests, and referral to higher‑level facilities for cases that require advanced care. Officials say the campaign will run for 90 days, after which the data will be analyzed to plan further health interventions.
The health drive reflects Bihar's broader push to improve preventive care and reduce the burden of non‑communicable diseases among its adult population.
