Bihar authorities have rolled out a 20‑day campaign to enforce road‑safety rules, issuing over 16,000 electronic tickets in the first ten days and earmarking a ₹15.5 crore fine.
The Bihar government has launched a 20‑day intensive drive to curb traffic rule violations across the state. The campaign, which began on 20 October, focuses on strict enforcement of speed limits, seat‑belt usage, and other road‑safety norms.
Within the first ten days of the operation, traffic police issued more than 16,000 electronic tickets, a record for the state. Each e‑invoice is generated through a digital system that captures the violator’s details and the nature of the offence.
The authorities have earmarked a total fine of ₹15.5 crore for the violations recorded during the campaign. The fine will be collected through the e‑invoice system, ensuring transparency and reducing manual paperwork.
In addition to the fines, the police have announced that officers involved in the enforcement will be held accountable for any lapses in procedure, signalling a move towards greater accountability in traffic management.
