From 1 January 2026, the Bihar government will raise the monthly allowance for postgraduate medical and dental students in state‑run colleges.
The Bihar government announced a revision of the monthly stipend paid to postgraduate (PG) students pursuing medicine and dentistry in its government‑run colleges. The new rates will come into force on 1 January 2026, aligning the allowance with the state’s effort to support advanced medical education.
The increase applies to all eligible PG candidates across the first, second and final years of their programmes. While the exact figures for each year have not been disclosed in the release, officials indicated that the revised amounts will be communicated through the health department’s official channels before the start of the academic session.
The move is part of Bihar’s broader strategy to retain talent in the state’s health sector and to encourage more graduates to pursue higher qualifications locally.
