Bihar government warns against fishing in Nepal floodwaters

Bihar's health and agriculture departments have issued an advisory urging people to avoid fishing in waters flowing from Nepal after the recent floods.
The notice highlights the danger of waterborne diseases and contamination that can affect those handling fish from the swollen rivers.
Officials pointed to rising levels in the Kosi, Gandak and other tributaries that originate in Nepal, warning that debris and pathogens in the floodwaters pose serious health hazards.
The advisory targets border districts such as Supaul, Madhepura and Purnia, where river fishing is a common livelihood.
State authorities have asked local officials to monitor the situation and to explore alternative income options for affected communities.
