Police in Bihar busted a criminal network that was filing false SC/ST complaints for a fee of ₹2.5 lakh, with wives lodging the cases and husbands arranging bogus witnesses.
Police in Bihar announced the arrest of a group that was systematically manufacturing false Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) cases. The operation, carried out by the state crime branch, led to the detention of several individuals suspected of orchestrating the scheme.
According to investigators, the gang's modus operandi involved wives filing the complaints while their husbands recruited and coached fictitious witnesses. Each fabricated case was sold for a fixed price of ₹2.5 lakh, with the money shared among the participants.
The police have seized cash and documents linking the accused to multiple bogus petitions filed across district courts. All arrested persons are being interrogated, and the case is being forwarded to the district magistrate for further legal action under sections dealing with fraud and misuse of SC/ST provisions.
