Bihar is grappling with floods that have displaced around 50 lakh residents, prompting state leader Tejashwi Yadav to request Rs 15,000 per family for relief.

Heavy monsoon rains have triggered widespread flooding across Bihar, leaving approximately 50 lakh people displaced or otherwise affected.

The state’s Chief Minister, Tejashwi Yadav, has publicly requested that the central government provide Rs 15,000 per family to help cover immediate relief and rehabilitation costs.

The demand comes amid reports of extensive damage to homes, infrastructure and agricultural land, with many communities still awaiting basic necessities such as food, water and medical supplies.

State officials have begun deploying emergency teams and setting up relief camps, but the scale of the crisis has prompted calls for additional financial support.

The government’s response will be closely monitored as the monsoon season continues to bring heavy rainfall to the region.
