The sudden rise in Gandak River flow has prompted the Indian Army's SSB to alert all units on the India‑Nepal border, heightening flood risk in Bihar.

A sudden increase in the flow of the Gandak River has raised concerns of a flood wave reaching up to three metres in height, prompting authorities in Bihar to issue a heightened flood alert.

The Indian Army’s Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) has warned all its units stationed along the India‑Nepal international boundary to be on high alert, citing the potential for rapid water level changes.

Bihar’s disaster management officials are closely monitoring river gauges and are coordinating with local police and civil defence to disseminate warnings to vulnerable communities.

Residents in low‑lying districts along the Gandak are advised to stay away from riverbanks and to prepare emergency kits in case of sudden inundation.
