Bihar: Ex-Mayor, Deputy Mayor barred from elections over toilet scam

The apex court's decision maintains the existing prohibition against these individuals participating in future elections.

Furthermore, the court has ordered the recovery of Rs 27.19 lakh from the former representatives. This directive is linked to irregularities identified in the tender process for the construction of toilets within the municipal corporation's jurisdiction.

The legal proceedings stem from allegations of corruption and financial impropriety related to the implementation of sanitation projects.
