Bihar DCLR Kanchan Kumari Jha Arrested Over Rs 2 Lakh Bribe Allegations

The land reform sub-collector Kanchan Kumari Jha was taken into custody by the anti-corruption unit in Darbhanga after allegations that she accepted a Rs 2 lakh bribe to resolve a land dispute.
The anti-corruption wing of the Bihar government arrested Kanchan Kumari Jha, the district land reform sub-collector (DCLR) of Darbhanga, on Thursday morning.
Investigators allege that Jha accepted a bribe of Rs 2 lakh to expedite the settlement of a land dispute involving local villagers.
During the raid, officials reportedly recovered a cash amount of Rs 13 lakh from a government housing property linked to the case.
The arrest is part of a broader crackdown on corruption in land administration, with the state’s vigilance department targeting officials suspected of misusing their positions.
Jha has been remanded to police custody pending further inquiry, and the case is now under the jurisdiction of the state anti-corruption court.
