Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has appealed to the Indian Air Force for support in rescue and relief operations as heavy floods continue to affect Bihar.
Heavy monsoon rains have caused widespread flooding across several districts of Bihar, displacing thousands of residents and damaging infrastructure. In response, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary met officials of the state disaster management authority and formally requested the Indian Air Force to deploy aircraft and personnel for rescue missions and supply drops.
The CM emphasized the urgency of aerial assistance, noting that many villages are cut off by inundated roads, making ground rescue difficult. He asked the IAF to prioritize deployment of helicopters for evacuating stranded families and to air‑drop essential relief items such as food, medicine and clean water.
State officials confirmed that the request has been forwarded to the Ministry of Defence, and a joint coordination cell is being set up to synchronize the IAF's operations with local disaster response teams. The move reflects a broader strategy to leverage military assets in mitigating the humanitarian impact of the floods.
Authorities continue to monitor water levels and have urged residents in high‑risk zones to stay alert and follow evacuation advisories. Relief camps are being established in safer areas to provide temporary shelter and basic amenities to those displaced.
