Bihar: 7 Booked in MGNREGA Scam

In a significant development, the District Development Commissioner (DDC) of Saran district in Bihar has uncovered a major scam in the implementation of MGNREGA schemes. The surprise inspection, conducted by DDC Laxman Tiwari, revealed large-scale irregularities in the Lever Panchayat of Manjhi block. The investigation found financial discrepancies and the use of substandard materials in tree plantation projects. As a result, an FIR has been lodged against seven individuals, including the mukhiya. The accused have been booked for their alleged involvement in the scam. The incident has raised concerns about the implementation of MGNREGA schemes in the state and the need for greater transparency and accountability.
