Bidar MLA Unveils Basaveshwara Statue at Naubad Basava Mantapa
Bidar: Dr. Shailendra Beldale, MLA for Bidar South, unveiled the new statue of Basaveshwara at the Basava Mantapa in the KIADB residential layout, Naubad. He highlighted Basavanna's commitment to the well-being of all living beings and the inclusive nature of the Anubhava Mantapa, emphasizing equality beyond caste, class, varna, and gender. Dr. Beldale also announced a personal donation of ₹1 lakh towards the construction of the Basava Mantapa.
Bidar MLA Rahim Khan urged the community to practice Basavanna's philosophy of monotheism and acknowledged that while the Lingayat community has progressed, implementing Basavanna's teachings fully remains a challenge. He announced a grant of ₹50 lakhs from his constituency funds for the project. The event was presided over by Jagadguru Channabasavananda Swamiji and attended by prominent figures including Mathe Satyadevi, Shivaraj Kapalapure, Vitthaldas Pyage, Basavakumar Patil, Maruti Baudhe, and others. A grand procession featuring an idol of Basavanna in the 'Abhaya Hasta' pose was flagged off by NSSK President Suryakant Nagamarpalli, with cultural performances and hundreds participating.
