The Madhya Pradesh government has released a draft of Bhopal’s Master Plan‑2047, proposing a 51‑km growth corridor, education hub, golf course and an increase in green cover to 27 %.
Chief Minister Yadav announced that the draft of Bhopal’s Master Plan‑2047 has been prepared, marking the first comprehensive blueprint for the city’s long‑term development. The document outlines a strategic vision that stretches to the year 2047, aiming to transform Bhopal into a modern, sustainable urban centre.
Key components of the plan include a 51‑kilometre growth corridor designed to channel new commercial and residential projects, an education hub to concentrate schools and higher‑learning institutions, and a dedicated golf course. Land‑use zoning will be mixed, allowing for balanced residential, commercial and recreational spaces.
The draft also proposes a significant boost in green cover, raising the target from the current 16 % to 27 % of the city’s area. This increase is intended to improve air quality, provide recreational spaces and enhance climate resilience.
Authorities have opened a public consultation window, inviting citizens, experts and stakeholders to submit objections, suggestions and feedback on the proposed plan. The input will be reviewed before the final version is approved and implemented.
