A recent study has revealed that 43 out of 63 water samples collected from 30 settlements around Union Carbide in Bhopal are contaminated with fecal bacteria. This has raised concerns among the local residents, particularly the gas victims who have been demanding clean water supply. The gas victim organizations have accused the municipal corporation of negligence and warned of a situation similar to Bhagirathpura, where water contamination had severe health implications.
