Bhopal Prepares for Ganeshotsav: Idol Prices Surge to ₹10,000

With just four days to the Ganeshotsav, Bhopal’s organizers are finalising pandals and lighting, while the cost of large Ganesh idols has climbed to between ₹2,000 and ₹10,000 due to rising raw material and labour prices.
The city of Bhopal is in the final stages of preparation for the annual Ganeshotsav, with only four days left before the celebrations begin. Organisers have been busy setting up elaborate pandals, arranging lighting, and ensuring that the venue is ready for the influx of devotees.
A key highlight of this year’s festival is the significant rise in the cost of large Ganesh idols. Prices have surged to a range of ₹2,000 to ₹10,000, a jump attributed to higher costs of raw materials and increased labour charges.
The price hike has prompted organisers to seek cost‑effective alternatives, such as using lighter materials or outsourcing parts of the idol construction. Despite the higher expenses, the festival is expected to attract large crowds, as it has traditionally done.
Devotees, meanwhile, are preparing to participate in the festivities, hoping for a smooth and spiritually uplifting experience as the city welcomes the beloved deity of Ganesha.
