Bhopal: Over 10,000 E-Challans Issued for No Helmet in 5 Months

Despite continuous enforcement and directives, Bhopal residents are not adhering to helmet regulations. Over 10,000 e-challans were issued for riding without helmets between January and May 2026.

Authorities in Bhopal have observed a persistent disregard for mandatory helmet usage among two-wheeler riders. In a five-month period, from January to May 2026, traffic police issued a substantial number of e-challans specifically for this violation.

A total of 10,143 challans were registered against individuals found riding without helmets during this timeframe. This figure represents a significant portion, approximately one-third, of all traffic violations recorded in the city during the same period, underscoring the scale of the issue.

The data indicates that despite repeated warnings and the implementation of various directives aimed at improving road safety, compliance with helmet laws remains a challenge for a considerable segment of the commuting public in Bhopal.
