The Bhopal Municipal Corporation has begun sealing commercial establishments operating in residential areas after issuing 8,264 notices to violators.
Bhopal – The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) has launched a large‑scale sealing operation targeting commercial premises that are illegally functioning in residential neighbourhoods. After a series of inspections, the corporation issued 8,264 notices to owners of such establishments, demanding compliance with zoning regulations.
The notices, which were served over the past weeks, warned that continued violation would result in sealing of the premises. Following the deadline, BMC teams equipped with sealing kits entered the identified locations and began the physical closure of the illegal units.
Municipal officials said the drive aims to restore the residential character of the affected colonies, improve safety, and ensure that land‑use rules are uniformly enforced across the capital. The corporation will continue monitoring the sealed sites and may impose further penalties on repeat offenders.
Residents have expressed relief that the illegal shops, which often caused congestion and noise, are being removed. The BMC has pledged to expedite the process and keep the public informed through regular updates.
