The Bhopal Municipal Corporation has begun sealing illegal commercial establishments operating in residential neighbourhoods after issuing notices and conducting inspections.
The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) has initiated a large‑scale sealing operation targeting commercial premises that are operating illegally within residential zones of the capital city. Teams of municipal officials arrived in the affected localities after a series of notices were served to the owners.
According to the corporation’s directive, each identified establishment undergoes a formal inspection before any sealing action is taken. Once a violation is confirmed, officials seal the premises to halt business activity until the owner complies with zoning regulations.
BMC officials said the drive aims to restore the residential character of neighbourhoods, curb congestion, and enforce existing building codes. The corporation has urged business owners to regularise their premises or face continued enforcement.
