Bengaluru Dating Scam Uses Fake Cab Bookings to Target Men, Police Warn

Bengaluru police have issued an alert about a newly identified dating fraud that specifically targets men. The warning, reported by Asianet Newsable, says that perpetrators first make contact with victims on popular dating platforms and then arrange a cab reservation in the victim's name.
The scammers allegedly create a fake booking and ask the victim to pay the fare or share personal details to confirm the ride. By exploiting the trust built during online conversations, they aim to extract money or sensitive information.
Authorities advise anyone approached in this manner to verify any cab reservation directly with the service provider and to avoid sending payments before confirming the ride. Victims are urged to report such incidents to the Bengaluru police cyber cell for further investigation.
