The Himachal Pradesh government announced that the states receiving power from the Kishau hydro project will share the project's Rs 2,000 crore liability.
The Himachal Pradesh administration has confirmed that the financial responsibility for the Kishau hydro‑electric project, estimated at Rs 2,000 crore, will be borne by the states that benefit from its power output.
The decision comes as part of an effort to distribute the large capital cost and future obligations associated with the project among the recipient states, rather than leaving the burden solely on Himachal.
Officials indicated that the liability sharing arrangement will be formalised through inter‑state agreements, ensuring that each beneficiary contributes proportionately to the project's debt and operational expenses.
