Begusarai Wins ‘Best Performing Model District’ Award for Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission

Begusarai district in Bihar has been named the Best Performing Model District for the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, recognising its effective rollout for a population of over five lakh.
The Bihar district of Begusarai has been honoured with the ‘Best Performing Model District’ award under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). The accolade recognises districts with a population exceeding five lakh that have demonstrated superior implementation of the central health‑tech scheme.
According to the award citation, Begusarai has successfully generated 2.023 million Aadhar‑linked health IDs (AB‑IDs) to date, enabling residents to access a range of digital health services. The rapid creation of these IDs is seen as a key driver of the district’s performance rating.
State health officials said the recognition reflects coordinated efforts between the district administration, local health facilities and the state’s IT department. They expect the model to be replicated in other districts aiming to meet the national goal of universal digital health coverage.
The award will be presented at a ceremony in Patna later this month, where Begusarai’s District Magistrate and the state health secretary are slated to receive the plaque on behalf of the district administration.
