The Bar Council of India has announced plans to establish a National Legal Academy on the IIULER campus in Goa, aiming to enhance legal education and training. The initiative will provide advanced courses and research opportunities for law students and professionals.
The Bar Council of India (BCI) has announced that a National Legal Academy will be established on the campus of the Indian Institute of Urban and Legal Education and Research (IIULER) in Goa.
The IIULER campus, situated in the coastal state of Goa, is already known for its interdisciplinary programs in law, urban studies and public policy.
The academy aims to provide advanced legal training, research facilities and industry collaborations to law students, practitioners and scholars, thereby strengthening the legal profession in India.
BCI officials said the project will be launched in phases, with the first cohort of courses expected to begin in the academic year 2025-26, following necessary approvals and infrastructure development.
