The Board of Control for Cricket in India convened an urgent session in Mumbai today to assess Rohit Sharma’s role in the ODI format and his potential participation in the 2027 World Cup.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) convened an emergency review meeting in Mumbai today to examine the future of senior batsman Rohit Sharma in the One Day International (ODI) format.

The agenda centred on Sharma’s continued involvement in ODIs and his availability for the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup, with officials describing the matter as both serious and urgent.

BCCI officials indicated that decisions will be based on forthcoming medical assessments, performance data and strategic planning for the national team’s composition.

The meeting highlights the board’s focus on long‑term planning ahead of the 2027 tournament and the need to establish a clear succession plan for the top order.

The BCCI has not released an official statement yet, but is expected to announce its conclusions in due course.
