BCCI Eyes Early March IPL Start from 2027 to Beat Extreme Weather

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering an earlier Indian Premier League (IPL) start from March 10, 2027, to avoid the adverse effects of extreme weather conditions.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is contemplating an adjustment to the Indian Premier League (IPL) schedule, with plans to commence the tournament around March 10 annually, starting from 2027. This strategic shift aims to circumvent the challenges posed by escalating temperatures and pre-monsoon rainfall that have impacted late-season matches in recent years.

The proposed earlier start is intended to provide a more stable window for the T20 league, mitigating potential disruptions caused by heatwaves and unseasonal rains. The BCCI is looking to ensure the smooth conduct of all 74 matches within the tournament's established format.

In conjunction with the revised IPL timeline, domestic cricket schedules are also under review to ensure seamless integration and alignment with the earlier league commencement.
