The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has identified and begun demolition of over 800 illegal constructions obstructing stormwater drains in Mahadevapura and Bommanahalli as a precaution before the upcoming monsoon.
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has launched a demolition drive to remove illegal structures that are obstructing the Rajakaluve (stormwater drains) in the Mahadevapura and Bommanahalli zones of Bengaluru, ahead of the approaching monsoon season.
Officials have identified more than 800 to 1,000 unauthorized constructions that were hindering the flow of stormwater. The operation aims to prevent waterlogging and flooding in the city during heavy rains.
Demolition teams are working swiftly to clear the identified sites, and residents have been urged to cooperate and refrain from encroaching on drainage areas.
The BBMP has warned that any further illegal encroachments will be dealt with strictly, underscoring the importance of maintaining clear drainage channels before the monsoon arrives.
